Simplicity, A La Mode

I might be guilty of loving my A La Mode Cutie Pattern a little too much.  I might also have a dozen of these already quilted and waiting to be given away.

I have loved low-volume fabric since it was called "neutral."  So I made a neutral A La Mode quilt with a Low-Volume Cutie pack and peach background.


I decided to quilt this with meandering/stippling.  I teach how to meander/stipple in my First Steps to Free-Motion Quilting online class.  If "learn to stipple" is on your bucket list, check out my class.

This quilt is sitting in the gift pile.   I know it will be the perfect get well, thinking of you, miss you, housewarming, or any other reason gift for someone.

Sometimes, simple quilts in simple colors with simple quilting are just perfect.

My  A La Mode Cutie Pattern  looks great in every color combination I've tried, and I've tried MANY! Kits for this quilt  are on sale so you can make one (or a dozen), too! I love black and white fabrics, and I also love experimenting to see how they play off different background colors. Hot aqua, anyone? For the Love of a Scrap Quilt

 I am in the middle of a month of medical treatments that leave me feeling punky and the best medicine for that is to jump into my scraps and make a new scrap quilt. Fortunately, the newest Quilter's World Magazine arrived in my mailbox at the perfect time!  Tricia Lynn Maloney designed Ski Party using a brightly colored jelly roll.  I knew I had scrappy gray 2 1/2" strips already cut in my stash, so I toned down her adorable quilt. I could complain about the really bright sun on this autumn day and how it washed out the color in my photograph a little bit, but I won't because... sun.  In autumn. Inspired by the machine quilting on the sample done by Cheryl Weiderspahn, I stitched a royal blue ribbon meander.
